Chizzle is a global mobile platform which provides a transparent marketplace for teachers and learners of all ages to come together across any teachable subject matter, including instruction in academics, sports, visual and performing arts, hobbies, enrichment lessons and short duration workshops and camps. Subjects available may vary by country.
2. Which mobile platforms is Chizzle be available on?
Chizzle is currently available on Android and iOS. Chizzle can be downloaded from Play Store or App Store.
3. Which all countries is Chizzle available in ?
Chizzle is available in Singapore, Australia and India and will be rolled out in other countries in a phased manner.
4. What kind of teachers is Chizzle for?
Chizzle is useful for teachers, coaches and tutors conducting face to face contact lessons who teach full-time or part-time, professionals who want to teach in their spare time, or anyone who has a skill they wish to impart to others.
5. Are there any prerequisite criteria before I can be listed as a teacher on Chizzle?
If you have the ability to teach and a passion to inspire, welcome to Chizzle, the global platform for connecting learners and teachers.
6. Is listing on Chizzle really Free?
Listing on Chizzle is completely Free and will always be. There are no charges to list teachers profile on Chizzle. Every user is subscribed to Forever Free plan by default.
7. I am not formally qualified in the subject, but I love to teach. Can I list on Chizzle?
While formal qualifications establish your competence in the field for learners, Chizzle firmly believes that if you have a passion to teach and you know your subject well, formal qualifications are only secondary. Hence go ahead and Sign Up. We love expanding opportunities for latent experts to share their knowledge and passion for subjects with those seeking to learn from them.
8. What do I need to do to get listed on Chizzle?
You would need to download the Chizzle app on your smartphone, create a profile and indicate the time and dates when you are available to teach.
9. Can I list using the Chizzle website?
Chizzle is currently available only as an app on mobile devices. Chizzle is expected to be available on the world wide web in a few months time.
10. Which subjects can I teach?
Chizzle platform is broad-based and encompasses a variety of subjects, including academics, sports, arts and hobbies. New subjects are continually added. If you have skills in a subject that is not yet listed for the country in which you are located, do write us at [email protected] and we will work on adding the subject and inform you after the addition. You can also communicate with us through the app under the Feedback section.
11. Does Chizzle only cater to individual teachers, or does Chizzle offering listings of institutions as well?
As of now, Chizzle provides listing only for individual teachers, who either teach at their location or travel to a learners location. Single Teacher institutes can also list. In a few months, Chizzle will also allow multi teacher institutions to list lessons and receive bookings.
12. I am a 15 year old and extremely good at guitar and want to provide lessons part time to earn pocket money. Can I list on Chizzle?
The terms of usage of Chizzle terms prohibit the usage of the platform by anyone under 18 years of age. This is for your own safety.
13. Can I search for learners?
Chizzle enables learners to search for teachers, but not vice a versa. However if a learner is looking for a subject you teach and if, due to any reason your schedule is unavailable, learner can request for a slot from you, If you are able to accommodate the learners slot request or propose an alternate slot request, Chizzle will inform the learner of your availability. Chizzle encourages all teachers to provide maximum flexibility in their schedules to maximize your number of potential lesson bookings.
14. Will my Mobile Number and Email ID be visible to learners?
15. I have forgotten my login password. What do I do?
On the login screen of the app, you will see a Forgot Password button. Click on it, enter your registered Email ID with Chizzle, and we will send the password to your Email ID.
16. I have changed my mobile number, what do I do?
In the Settings section of the app, you can change mobile number to a new one. We will send a one time authentication password to your new mobile number.
17. I have an idea to improve Chizzle, where do I send it?

18. Can I delist my profile?
You can write to us at [email protected] to deactivate your profile and we will deactivate it within 7 days of the receipt of your email.
19. I am a teacher. Can I register as a learner as well?
Yes, you can register as a learner as well by creating a learner profile using the same login as used for Teachers Sign Up. However, when you search for teachers, you will not be able to see your own listing.
20. What is Forever Free Plan?
Forever Free plan enables teacher to be listed on Chizzle perpetually. The Forever Free plans restricts the number of new connects that the teacher can have in any given monthly duration At the moment the number of new connect allowed each month is one (01) connect. A connect is a chat message, a paid lesson booking, a trial lesson booking or a lesson slot request.
21. What is Premium Listing?
Premium Listing Plan provides an enhanced number of connects each month, currently the Premium Listing Plan offers unlimited connects each month. The current country wise pricing is ; Australia : AUD 5 for each one month period; Singapore : SGD 5 for each one month period; India : INR 100 for each one month period,
22. What is Sponsored Listing?
The Sponsored Listing Plan (may not be available in all countries) enables teachers to be featured at the top of a search list . As long as the list generated by Chizzle's algorithm includes a teacher who has subscribed to the Sponsored Listing Plan, such teachers profile will be displayed at the top of the list as a sponsored listing. A maximum of two sponsored listings per search result will be provided. If more than two teachers who have enrolled in the Sponsored Listing Plan appear in the search results, the teachers who are ranked highest as determined by the algorithm, will be the ones listed at the top of the list as sponsored listings. A teacher enrolled in our Sponsored Listing Plan will receive a maximum of 100 impressions for each one month duration.The current country wise pricing is ; Australia : AUD 10 for each one month period; Singapore : SGD 10 for each one month period; India : INR 200 for each one month period,
23. How do I pay for Premium Listing or Sponsored Listing Subscription?
You will be required to choose Subscription from the Home Page menu and select the subscription that you intend to take. For iOS users all subscription are availed via iTunes store. For Android users, during Sign Up (or at any time) , you can provide your credit card details so that if you later wish to avail yourself of certain fee based features we offer now (or will offer in the future), such as enrollment in a Premium or Sponsored Listing Plan), it will be a simple click of the button. Do note all subscriptions are automatically renewed monthly unless cancelled in advance. For iOS users the pricing charged would be governed by the Apple defined pricing tier which is closest to the applicable pricing but doesn't exceed the applicable pricing.
24. Is my credit card data safe?
Chizzle does not store or process your credit card data. This is all done through an accredited payment gateway. Hence, your data is treated very much like it is treated when you swipe your card at a store.
25. Can I teach at my own location?
You required to indicate whether you wish to teach at the learners location, your location, or both during profile creation process.
26. I only teach a certain age group of learners, how do I ensure being matched only with learners of that age group?
You can specify the minimum and maximum ages that you teach during profile creation process.
27. I can only teach in English. Can I specify my language of instruction?
You can indicate the languages in which you can provide instruction during the profile creation process. A maximum of 4 languages can be selected.
28. I teach many subjects. Can I list myself for multiple subjects?
Yes, from the available list of subjects you can select all the subjects that you can teach.
29. I am being asked if I provide variable duration lessons or fixed duration lessons, what does that mean?
Some teachers prefer to teach fixed duration lessons such as each lesson of 45 minutes, in this scenario the pricing is specified on a per lesson basis, in cases where the teacher is flexible on lesson duration and can take lessons say from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, with extension intervals for e.g. 15 minutes, a teacher can conduct lessons (and learner has the flexibility to book) for 30 minutes , 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 75 minutes or 90 minutes, in this scenario the pricing is specified on a per hour basis.
30. Why do I need to specify a minimum number of lessons to be booked?
In some cases teachers require a minimum commitment of number of lessons before accepting a booking, if you do not have any such criteria you can specify 1 lesson as the minimum commitment of number of lessons.
31. I can take group lessons at learners location, however I am unable to select a group lesson option.
Currently group lessons can only be conducted at teachers location, if you teach only at learner location, you will not be able to opt for conducting group lessons.
32. I am available at two locations, one in morning and one in evening. How do I ensure that I reach learners from both locations?
You can specify to be available at as many locations as you want during the profile creation process. This is only relevant if you provide lesson at learners location. When you create your schedules you will have to tag your schedules to one of the multiple locations that you specify.
33. I am very well-qualified teacher and have received many awards in my field of teaching. How do I inform prospective learners about my qualifications?
You can specify the qualifications and awards you have received and provide a detailed description of your teaching experience and credentials during profile creation. You can also upload any certificates or awards that you may want to showcase. This information will appear in your profile and will be viewable by all learners.
34. Why cant I charge for trial lessons?
Trial lessons are intended to provide a learner with the opportunity to better assess whether they wish to pursue lessons with you, and thus lessons that are designated trial must be free. You can specify the maximum number of free trial lessons you want to provide for a new learner.
35. How do I specify my available schedules?
After your profile creation process is completed,(or at any point of time using Add Availability under Calendar Menu) you can specify your available schedules by selecting the start and end date (or specify no end date for perpetual schedules) of the schedule, the start time and end time and the weekdays that you are available for that time. The end time will be automatically selected if you conduct fixed duration lessons. If you conduct variable duration lessons, you will be provided with options to choose end time for that schedule.
36. I teach multiple subjects how do I create schedules for them?
When you create availability, you can tag a schedule to a subject or you can specify 'Any Subject' in which case the same schedule will be available across all subjects that you teach. Group lesson schedules must be tagged to a specific subject.
37. I teach at multiple locations, how do I create schedules for them?
When you create availability, each schedule must be tagged to one of the multiple locations that you have specified.
38. How do I delete previously created availability?
You can View Availability from the Calendar Menu of the app and select the schedules that you want to delete, in the event you have any lessons booked for a particular schedule, the schedule will be deleted after the date of the last booked lesson.
39. How do I specify my vacation time on the schedule?
All National Holidays are automatically marked by Chizzle as vacation time. Chizzle recommends that when you create your schedule or at any time that you want to take time off, you identify any dates or days that you know that you will not be available by creating Time Off for such days. No lessons will be scheduled for any day or block of days that have been scheduled as vacation days/time off. As a first step, you should indicate all days on, and times at, which you would be available to teach (e.g., your regular weekly schedule of days and times you are available to book lessons). Secondly as a last step, you should indicate those non-public holiday days you plan to take off as vacation days/time off. In the event you were to later cancel your time off with respect to a non-public holiday, such days/times would revert to your regular schedule (e.g., a non-public holiday Wednesday that you had previously designated as a vacation day, would revert to your regular Wednesday schedule if you were to subsequently cancel the time off designation with respect to that day). If you wish to not take time off on a Public Holiday, you can do so by deselecting the same. Do note that if you deselect a Public Holiday it will be treated as an available day not only for the current year but also for all subsequent years.
40. What happens if I do not specify any availability?
While we recommend that every teacher specified availability, in the event you do not specify availability, you will continue to be listed on the platform and the learners will have the ability to request a slot form you based on learners preferences. Do note that listing order is prioritised for teachers with availability vs teachers with no availability.
41. How do learners find me on Chizzle?
Once you have completed your profile, you will start featuring in search results for the subject that you teach. Chizzle uses an intelligent algorithm which matches learners needs to provide them with the most suitable teachers listed in order of best possible match for the desired subject. The algorithm takes into account multiple criteria, including, but not limited to, learners preferences, distance, ratings, available schedules and pricing. If your profile matches the preferences of the learner, the profile will be included in the list presented to the learner.
42. Can a learner sort or filter the provided listing.?
Learners can filter teachers on the basis of the day, date and time that they want to book lessons, and also sort based on the rating, price and distance.
43. How do I ensure that I am at the top of the learner listing?
As the Chizzle algorithm uses multiple criteria to identify suitable teachers for a learner, it is not necessary that you will be at the top of listing, however a well created profile with availability will be listed higher than a profile which doesn't have much details or a profile which doesn't have availability specified. You can also choose to subscriber to Sponsored Listing and advertise your profile. Please see subscription section for the same.
44. How does a learner or a parent verify that I am suitable for the needs they are looking for?
There are multiple ways in which a learner or a parent assesses the suitability of a teacher: A ) Teachers Profile : This is the first criteria, which enables the prospective learner or parent to view your profile and assess suitability. It is very important that a teacher enters his or her information as comprehensively as possible. Chizzle has made the profile creation process extremely simple and it takes less than 3 minutes to create a profile. B) Chat with teacher : Before a lesson is booked, the learner can chat with the teacher via the platform. As the teacher teaches learners and conducts lessons, Chizzle continues to collect ratings and reviews for the teacher and these data points are added to his or her profile. C) Reference check with existing learners : A new prospective learner can connect with a teachers existing learners (or past learners) and seek feedback. D) Take a trial lesson : Chizzle encourages teachers to provide free trial lessons, and most teachers provide one or more free trial lessons to new learners, during which time a parent or learner can evaluate the teachers effectiveness for ones specific needs.
45. I have published my schedule availability, why do I still need to confirm the lesson while I was already available at the time requested by the learner?
There are multiple reasons for seeking confirmation, the foremost being identification of the location where the lesson will be conducted (relevant in cases where the lesson is conducted at a learner location) so that you can determine if you will be able to reach that location based on your expected location prior to the requested lesson. The booking confirmation request also enables you to initiate a chat request with the learner, in the event you want any clarifications before you confirm the lesson booking.
46. In how much time should I respond to the learner after receiving a booking request.
Teachers are expected to respond within 24 hours of receiving a booking request. In the event a booking is not responded to, the booking is auto cancelled and the requesting learner will be notified that no response has been received, and the learner can select another teacher.
47. Can I decline a lesson booking request?
The search results provided to learners are highly customized via our smart algorithm, and match learners requested times and dates to teachers availability. If there are reasons to decline a booking request (such as personal exigency), you can do so. You will need to select appropriate reason for declining the booking from the provided list, such reasons are relayed to the learner. Ideally, Chizzle expects teachers not to reject a learners booking request. Do note that a lesson booking decline impacts your profile ratings negatively.
48. I have received a booking request, can I talk with learner before I confirm ?
Chizzle provides a chat functionality, which allows teachers to chat with learners. As a teacher, you can chat with learners anytime after you receive a Trial or a Paid booking request. Do note that all chat sessions are monitored to ensure that no offensive or inappropriate language is used, and hence if you use any such language you may be barred from using the chat functionality and/or your subscription to Chizzle may be suspended.
49. A learner has booked 10 lessons, one lesson per week on Wednesday, and I know that of the 10 weeks of lessons, one of the Wednesdays is a Public Holiday. How does that day get treated?
All Public Holidays are treated as Time Off (unless you choose to mark them as working days).The system will automatically schedule the series of 10 lessons over 11 weeks (so as to pass over the public holiday). You can view the list of Public Holidays from the Settings Menu.
50. Once a lesson is booked, should I just show up and start the lesson?
It is your responsibility to prepare for the lesson and take all necessary steps to ensure your learner has a great experience. You may wish to discuss your lesson plan and some details in advance of the lesson so you are better prepared and you and your learner have more clearly communicated your expectations for the lesson.
51. How do I prepare for a lesson?
You are the expert so this is ultimately up to you. However, based on our experience, we have a few suggestions. First, be sure to contact your learner ahead of the lesson and discuss his/her goals and expectations for the lesson(s) with you. It may be useful to inquire whether the learner wishes to use specific textbooks or work off of a specific syllabus. If so, try to obtain a copy of such materials in advance of your lesson. Remember, first impressions count and the first lesson is often the hardest. Preparation is key.
52. How do I get paid by learners?
Currently, payments are made directly by learners to teachers according to the terms to which they mutually agree. Payment integration via the Chizzle platform, which will provide seamless payment processing and tracking is forthcoming. We expect this feature to be available in a few months time.
53. I need to take time off next week (i.e. more than 24 hours from now). I have a few lessons which will get affected, how do I reschedule them?
You simply need to create Time Off from Calendar Menu in the app for your desired days and Chizzle will automatically identify days/times on which you have any scheduled lessons, you will be provided with options of when can you schedule substitute lessons. The learner will be informed of the dates and times of substitute lessons and the learner can either (a) book a substitute lesson or (b) request a refund (if he/she has already paid) or agree to a cancelled lesson (if he/she has not already paid).
54. I need to take an Time off tomorrow (i.e. less than 24 hours from now). I have a few lessons which will get affected, what should I do?
As a first step, Chizzle suggests using the message broadcast function to broadcast a message to all/selected learners informing them that you wont be available, this is simple and quick. As a next step, you can schedule time off and Chizzle will suggest times for substitute lesson, which you can send to learners. The learners will then have the option to either (a) accept the substitute lesson, or (b) ask for refund (if he/she has already paid) or agree to a cancelled lesson (if he/she has not already paid).
55. How early should I request a time off?
Ideally, as early as you know that you wont be available. It is always good to advise a learner on a chat session that you would like to reschedule a lesson and inquire if the learner has any preferred date/time for rescheduling. You can create a specific slot that is mutually agreeable for learner to book.
56. What if the learner cancels a lesson?
Chizzle allows lessons to be cancelled by learners no less than 24 hours in advance, and you will be notified of the same. In the event a lesson is cancelled more than 24 hours in advance, you are obligated to provide a make-up lesson and Chizzle will provide you with possible alternate dates and times for such make-up lesson, based on your schedule availability. You can then send the learner a message indicating possible dates and times to schedule a make-up lesson. If the learner is agreeable, it can be booked. If not, you can provide a refund (if the learner has already paid) or consider the lesson as cancelled (if payment has not been made). If the learner cancels a lesson with less than 24 hours notice, the decision is yours regarding whether to offer a make-up lesson. learners are obligated to pay in full for any lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. (However, as learners pay teachers directly, Chizzle takes no responsibility to enforce any such payments and any failure to pay must be resolved between and among users themselves.)
57. What is attendance confirmation?
At the end of each lesson, the learner is sent a notification to confirm his/her attendance. This attendance confirmation also asks the learner to rate the lesson in the confirmation response (and provides the mechanism to do so).
58. What if the learner doesn't confirm attendance?
If the learner doesn't confirm attendance within 24 hours of attending the lesson, the lesson is considered attended.
59. What if the learner marks Not Attended, although he/she did attend the lesson?
In such cases, though rare, you are sent a notification learner has raised a dispute and you would need to settle with the learner within 7 days and confirm resolution of such dispute on the platform. The dispute resolution will need to be conducted on a one-on-one basis between you and the learner.
60. What does Chizzle do with the information that I provide about myself?
61. How does Chizzle rate teachers?
At the end of each lesson, while marking attendance, learner is asked to provide rating for the lesson. Teachers ratings are based multiple factors with major weightage of the learner feedback.
62. How do I request a learner to write a review for me?
Currently, a teacher cannot initiate a review request from learners, the platform makes the decision when to ask for a review from a learner for a teacher based in multiple factors. The functionality of requesting a review from existing learners is under way and will be available in a few months time.
63. A learner has written a review for me which I don't agree with. What should I do?
Reviews written by learners are published verbatim. However, the system auto-scans for any inappropriate words or language and Chizzle may exercise its right to not publish the review. The reviews are meant to be a transparent reflection of learners views and we expect teachers to take them in stride and use reviews as a useful feedback mechanism to enable improvement.
64. Why are ratings important?
Ratings are an important criterion in Chizzle's algorithm for Teachers Listing. We expect you to encourage your learners to provide a rating after each lesson, so that the ratings you receive are broad-based and not dependent on any single lesson out of many. Users at times are inclined to rate only when the experience is not good, but continuous and consistent feedback is more useful to both you and your learners, as it provides information for you to improve and adjust your teaching methodology, if needed.
65. Can I initiate a chat with learners?
You can initiate a chat with a new learner only after a learner has sent a Lesson Booking or Slot Request. You can chat with your existing or past learners at any time.
66. Can I flag an inappropriate chat?
Yes, you can flag any inappropriate chat.
67. Are chat sessions monitored?
All chat lessons are scanned for profanity and inappropriate language, and any misconduct may result in the user being grey listed or suspended from platform usage.
68. What is message broadcast?
Broadcasts are intended to allow teachers to send messages to one or more learners at the same time, for e.g. when you want to take time off on an urgent basis. Learners cannot respond to a broadcast message.
69. Is the platform available in a language other than English?
Currently, the platform is only available in English.
70. Does Chizzle perform a background check on teachers?
Chizzle is a free marketplace and anyone who desires to teach can create a listing. Chizzle does not perform a background check on teachers stated credentials. What each learner is seeking in a teacher differs. To help learners evaluate teacher credentials, teachers can upload certificates, awards, diplomas and degrees to the platform, which will be available for learners to view. (Such uploaded documents, however, are not separately verified by Chizzle, and we would urge learners to review any materials carefully and make their own independent determinations regarding their authenticity.) Chizzle also reserves the right to validate, inspect and check any credentials. Chizzle treats any false declarations extremely seriously and we reserve the right to, in our sole discretion, remove your profile or otherwise restrict your access to/use of the platform should we have any cause to believe that you have provided false information or should we discover that you have engaged in fraudulent or otherwise inappropriate behaviour.
71. Does Chizzle verify the details that I provide?
Chizzle verifies the mobile number provided using a one-time password. We also check if the Email ID is functional. However, you are liable for all the information that you provide. Chizzle doesn't otherwise verify the authenticity of the information provided by users. Chizzle does implement random checks on the information provided using our own methods. Chizzle takes user feedback very seriously and any feedback that you have provided incorrect information on your profile may result in your profile being grey/black listed.

At the end of each lesson, the learner or parent is asked to provide feedback on the lesson quality. A teachers rating is based on such feedback.
13. Most of the reviews seem to be positive, why is that so?
Chizzle takes all reviews and ratings very seriously and does not want you or other parents and learners to spend time finding a teacher that eventually isn't suitable. Teachers receiving consistent negative reviews are grey listed on the platform and are not visible to the parents/learners.
14. What does Chizzle do with the information that I provide?
15. I am a Mathematics teacher and I am listed on Chizzle, however when I login as a Learner, I do not find my listing, why is that?
If you are listed both as a teacher and a learner, and are logged in as a learner, you will not be able to view your own details when you search for teachers.
16. I am a parent, how do I find teachers suitable for my children?
During Profile Creation (or at any point of time), the user has the ability to define if the user is seeking teachers for their children, themselves or both. The users are presented with customised search results for their children or themselves or both whenever a subject is selected.
17. I see "Coming Soon' mentioned for certain subjects what does that mean?
If a subject is stated as "Coming Soon", this would mean we do not currently have enough teachers available for that particular subject to provide a reasonable choice based on where the user is located. The user has the ability to Show Interest and Chizzle will automatically inform revert when enough teachers are available for the desired subject.
18. I want to find teachers for a particular subject, but the subject is not listed, what should I do?
In the event there is a subject you are interested in and you do not find the subject listed on Chizzle, please send us an email at [email protected] and we will strive to include the subject and inform you when the subject is added.
19. I have searched for teachers for a particular subject and I have received a list, how does Chizzle sort this listing?
Chizzle uses an intelligent algorithm, which matches your preferences to provide you with a list of the most suitable teachers from the available pool of teachers in order of best available match. The search algorithm takes into account multiple criteria, including but not limited to distance, availability, rating and pricing.
20. I listed teachers for a particular subject, however when I list teachers, I receive ' No teachers could be found meeting your preferences' what should I do?
In rare circumstances, none of the teachers on the platform may meet the preferences of your profile, in such conditions, you are provided with an option to save search, and the platform automatically notifies you as and when teacher(s) matching your preferences are available. You can also change your preferences such as whether you want to learn the lesson at your location or teachers location or both to broaden search.
21. Can I create my own sort criteria?
After you search for a teacher for your desired subject, you can sort the available listing based on rating, price or distance by clicking the sort icon on the top right corner.
22. Can I choose teachers based on day of the week and time?
After the search results with teachers listing are presented for your desired subject, you can apply filters from top right hand corner filter icon based on day of the week, start time and start date. If you select a start time, the results will be grouped in 2 hour time slots before and after your desired start time.
23. What all information do I receive when in teachers listing.
In the presented list, for each individual teacher, comprehensive information is provided for you to assess prima facie suitability of the teacher. The following attributes are provided for each teacher: Name, Years of Experience , distance from your preferred location, lesson Location whether the Teachers place (denoted by T) or learners place (denoted by H) or both, languages Spoken, pricing for Individual and Group Lessons, available Weekdays or if availability doesn't exist then an indication that you can Request Slot Previously Viewed, Shortlisted or New Listing, Trial Lesson indication if provided You can click on the individual teachers to view detailed profile of the teacher which has much more information.
24. On the list received, I see certain teachers where 'Request Slot' is mentioned, what does that mean?
In the presented list, the teachers with Available Schedules are listed first, followed by teachers who are either fully booked or have not specified availability, such teachers will appear as 'Request Slot'. Where the teachers have specified availability you can view when they are available and book trial or paid lessons. Where the schedules are not available you can Request Slot from the teacher by specifying your preferences. The teacher has the discretion to accept or reject a slot. Our recommendation is to initiate a chat session before requesting as slot to ensure that the lesson timing is mutually convenient.
25. I like a teachers profile but I am not sure yet, can I short-list the profile for future reference?
On teachers detailed profile, you can shortlist the teacher using shortlist icon provided in the teachers profile at the top right corner. Shortlisted teachers will appear in My Teachers menu. You can also remove a teacher from your shortlist as and when you want.
26. How do I assess the suitability of a teacher for my requirements? Can I obtain references for a teacher that I am considering to take lessons from?
While Chizzle's algorithm provides the teachers list in order of best available match, a learners individual preference may vary, there are multiple ways of assessing the suitability of teacher for oneself. A) Teachers Profile: 1. The teachers profile provides a comprehensive view of the teachers experience, teaching methodology, awards and other credentials. 2. The teachers profile may include the rating that the teacher has received across all lessons conducted via Chizzle. 3. The teachers profile may also have reviews by other learners which are published verbatim. B) Chat with teacher: Before you book a trial or a paid lesson with the teacher, you can chat with the teacher and identify what kind of learning you are seeking, and the teacher will advise you if the teacher can meet your needs. C) Reference check with existing learners: A new prospective learner can connect with the existing learners of a teacher and seek feedback. While Chizzle doesn't guarantee that a response will be received or that the response will provide what you are looking for, you have the ability to seek a referral from the teachers existing or past learners, Chizzle opens up a group chat including up to a maximum of 10 existing learners of the teacher from whom feedback can be sought. The referral request chat group gets automatically deleted after 48 hours, however you can always seek for an extension of time or re-request the referral, when you re-request the referral it may go to a different set of learners than the ones that participated in your first referral request. D) Trial Lesson: Most teachers provide one or more trial lessons free of charge and you can book a trial lesson via Chizzle and assess the teachers suitability for yourself.
27. I see that some teachers have specified pricing in per hour and some have specified on per lesson basis, why is that so?
Some teachers prefer to teach fixed duration lessons such as each lesson of 45 minutes, in such cases the pricing is provided on a per lesson basis and the duration of the lesson is also provided along side. In cases where the teacher is flexible on lesson duration and can take lessons say from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, such teachers specify the price on an hourly basis with extension intervals for e.g. 15 minutes, in such a case a learner has the flexibility to book the teacher for 30 minutes , 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 75 minutes or 90 minutes. When you sort the results by price, the list that you see is based on a per hour price, for purposes of sorting, the price for a fixed duration lesson is prorated for one hour.
28. Can I chat with a teacher before booking a lesson?
Yes, you can send a chat message to a teacher from the detailed profile view before booking a lesson.
29. How do I book Paid or Trial lessons with a teacher?
Once you have decided on a teacher, you can View Availability from the teachers profile (may require a minimum number of lessons to book and number of lessons you require per week) and you will be provided the available slots of the teacher for the next 4 weeks, you can change the start date to another future date within next 52 weeks to view schedules for up to an year in advance. Select the time slot suitable to you, and you will be prompted to select the weekday(s) from the available weekdays. Once you specify the weekday(s), depending on your and teachers preferences you may be prompted to confirm the location where lesson(s) would be conducted, once selected, view the summary and send the lesson booking request. A similar process is followed for Trial Lessons booking.
30. I like a teachers profile however I see Request Slot instead of View Availability, how do I book lessons with the teacher?
Request Slot signifies that the teacher is available on the platform and either they are fully booked or they do not have an consistently available schedule. You can request for a slot along with your preferences of day, date and time. Once a slot is requested, the teacher will respond by either accepting or declining a slot. Once a slot is accepted you will need to send a Lesson Booking request. It is recommended that the timing be agreed on chat before requesting a time slot.
31. Why do I have to book a minimum number of paid lessons, and why does it vary from teacher to teacher?
Teachers specify the minimum number of paid lessons that they must receive the booking for and it varies based on how many lessons the teacher wants a minimum booking for.
32. I have sent a booking request to a teacher, when can I expect a response?
Teachers are expected to respond within 24 hours of your request for a booking. In the event you do not receive a response to a booking request within that time, you will be notified that no response has been received and you can book lessons with any other teacher that may suit your preferences.
33. I like a teacher but I want to take a Trial Lesson before I book Paid Lessons and the teacher doesn't have a trial slot, what do I do?
You can request the teacher via chat to provide a trial lesson. In most cases teachers do oblige. If the teacher agrees to offer you a trial lesson, the teacher will create a slot which allows for trial lesson. You can then book the slot via the platform.
34. I have taken my trial lesson and now I want to book paid lessons. What do I do?
If you have taken a trial lesson booked via the platform, that teacher will appear in Connected Teacher under My Teachers section and you can book a Paid Lesson by clicking on View Availability and selecting the desired slot.
35. I have booked 10 lessons, one lesson per week on Wednesdays. However, I know that of the 10 weeks of lessons, one of the Wednesdays is a Public Holiday. How does that day get treated?
When teachers specify availability, public holidays are automatically considered as off days, unless a teacher specifically confirms to be available on a public holiday. When you book your schedule, if any day of the proposed schedule falls on public holiday your schedule selection summary would show that dates of the lesson and the Wednesday which is a public holiday will not be in the dates identified. In the event the teacher has specified that the teacher is available on a public holiday and such a day appears on your schedule, you can always request for a reschedule for that particular day.
36. Can I send booking requests for the same subject to multiple teachers?
Chizzle does not recommend sending the booking requests to multiple teachers for the same subject or to multiple teachers for same time slot as this may mean that you are unable to get the teacher that you identified as most suitable for your needs. If multiple teachers accept the booking and all schedule requests are for different time slots or dates, then all will be booked, which means you will be obligated to pay to all teachers. If you like multiple teachers and are unable to establish which one is most suitable, we recommend to initiate chat sessions with teachers to assess suitability prior to booking a lesson.
37. I have sent request to two teachers for same subject, as I liked both, what happens if both accept?
Chizzle has made sure that if any one teacher accepts a booking at a certain time slot on a specific date, any requests that are made for the same time slot with other teachers, irrespective of subject, will be automatically void. If, however, a booking for the same time slot, for the same date, is made for two different children with different teachers, both will be booked and your calendar will show two bookings at the same time slot.
38. My booking request has been declined, why is that so?
At times, while the teachers schedule may be available, the teacher may be finishing an earlier lesson at a location which is far from the location where the proposed lesson is expected to be conducted, hence that teacher would not be able to honour the requested schedule. In most cases the teacher does identify the reason for declining a booking request.
39. I have booked lessons with a teacher, however I will be away and wont be able to attend the next lesson. What should I do?
You can request to reschedule a lesson and you will be provided with alternate lesson options once the teacher confirms he or she is willing to reschedule. Any reschedule requests must be placed 24 hours or more before the lesson start time to be eligible for rescheduling or refund (if paid). You can reschedule only one lesson at a time.
40. How early should I request a reschedule for a lesson?
You should request for a reschedule as early as possible, in the event you request to reschedule a lesson is less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson start time, the teacher has no obligation to provide a rescheduled lesson or a refund (if the lesson is already paid for). In the event the rescheduling request is made more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson start time, the teacher has the option to either accept your rescheduling request and will provide you a time and date when it can be rescheduled, or provide you a refund (if you have already paid). In the event the time and date suggested by the teacher for a rescheduled lesson is not acceptable to you, there wont be any further options provided and the lesson would be cancelled. It is always good to advise the teacher via a chat session that you would like to reschedule a lesson and, if you have any preferred dates/times. This allows the teacher to reschedule your lesson at a time and date that is mutually agreeable. Alternatively, the teacher may simply cancel the lesson and not charge you any fee (if not already paid for) Do note that all payments, and/or refunds for payments, will be made directly to and from users. Chizzle is not in any way involved in the processing of any payments or refunds between or among users and, accordingly, does not have any liability with respect to any late or missed payments or late or missed refunds. Payment processing via the Chizzle platform is currently under development and will be available in the near future which will automate the refund process so you don't have to keep track of attended and unattended lessons.
41. My teacher has offered me a replacement lesson at a time that I cannot attend. What do I do?
In the event the replacement lesson proposed by the teacher due to his/her inability to conduct the originally scheduled lesson, is not compatible with your schedule, you can propose an alternate time to the teacher via chat. The teacher will then create a slot for you and you can book that slot. In the event you are requesting a rescheduled lesson, we would recommend that you chat with the teacher immediately before the reschedule request is sent, so that you are able to communicate any preferred timing and date for a replacement lesson and, if needed, the teacher can create a time slot that is mutually agreeable specifically for you.
42. I cannot attend a lesson due to unavoidable circumstances, what do I do?
Whenever you are unable to attend the lesson, do notify your teacher, requesting to reschedule the lesson. In most cases, teachers are happy to reschedule your lesson (unless the lesson is a group lesson or a lesson which follows a certain curriculum). If the lesson is cancelled 24 hours before the scheduled start time, teacher may provide a replacement lesson or choose to provide refund (if paid for) or simply agree with cancellation (if not paid for). If the lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, teacher is not obligated to provide a refund or a replacement lesson, however, a teacher may provide a refund or a replacement lesson at teachers discretion.
43. I received a notification that the teacher cant make it to the lesson tomorrow due to medical issues. How does that get treated?
In the event the teacher cant make it to the lesson due to an emergency or otherwise, you would ideally be notified at the earliest possible opportunity, typically more than 24 hours in advance. However, in some cases, this may not be possible. For all such cancelled lessons, you would be provided a replacement lesson by the teacher or a refund (if already paid for).
44. Why do I need to confirm my attendance?
Each time a lesson is scheduled, and there is no cancellation of the lesson by learner or teacher, an attendance confirmation request is sent to you. The attendance confirmation request must be responded to in 24 hours. If you do not respond, Chizzle will consider that you did attend the lesson. The attendance confirmation helps you keep track of the number of lessons attended and in near future will help you to manage payments and refunds.
45. I couldn't attend the lesson and I couldn't send a reschedule request by the system as well. What do I do?
If you missed a lesson and couldn't inform the teacher, do ensure that when you receive an attendance confirmation request, you select the appropriate reason for not attending the lesson.
46. I didn't attend the lesson, and I marked accordingly on the attendance notification. However, I received another notification that the teacher has stated that I attended the lesson. What do I do now?
The above signifies that the teacher may not agree with your reported absence. In this case, you are required to settle the dispute within 7 days, during which period you can discuss the issue with teacher. After 7 days, you would receive alert asking for confirmation on resolution of dispute.
47. How do I rate a teacher or write a review?
The attendance confirmation message also asks you to rate the lesson quality, on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. Such ratings are used in teacher ratings, hence it also serves as a valuable feedback mechanism for the teacher, which eventually results in better quality teaching to you. Occasionally you may be requested to write a review about the teacher.
48. Can I initiate a review for a teacher?
If you have taken any paid lessons from a teacher, you can write a review for the teacher if prompted to write at the time of marking the attendance. You cannot initiate writing a review on your own for the teacher.
49. I wrote a review for a teacher but I cant see it on teachers profile?
While Chizzle strives to post reviews verbatim on the platform, the Chizzle system auto scans each review for any inappropriate words or language, and such reviews may be scrutinized and if found unsuitable may not be published.
50. Does Chizzle perform a background check on teacher?
Chizzle is a free marketplace and anyone who desires to teach can create a listing. Chizzle does not perform a background check on a teachers stated credentials. Moreover, what each learner is seeking in a teacher is slightly different. We seek to provide you with the information and tools to make the best informed decision regarding what kind of teacher is right for you. We always urge you to be prudent and take appropriate care when selecting teachers. Most teachers provide one or more free trial lessons to new learners, which should help a parent or learner evaluate the teachers effectiveness for ones specific needs. Parents or learners who plan to take lessons from a teacher can connect with other parents or learners prior to booking a trial lesson with that teacher to obtain feedback. Chizzle treats any false declarations extremely seriously and in the event you come across a teachers profile that is untrue or contains misrepresentations, please report it at [email protected]
51. Does Chizzle check the credentials of teachers?
Chizzle doesn't verify the information, statements or credentials provided by the teachers in their profile. However, Chizzle provides you with access to seek reference from a teachers previous (or current) learners, through teachers rating, teachers reviews available on his/her profile and via direct chat with teacher functionality. These various platform functions provide information to learners or their parents so that they may gauge the effectiveness of a teacher.
52. Can I talk with a teacher before I book?
Chizzle provides a chat functionality which allows you to chat with teachers even before you book a lesson. Do note that all chat sessions are monitored to ensure that no offensive or inappropriate language is used and hence if you use any such language you may be barred from using the chat functionality and /or your subscription to Chizzle may be suspended.
53. Can I flag an inappropriate chat?
Yes, you can flag any inappropriate chat.
54. I have received a broadcast from the teacher. Can I reply to it?
Broadcasts from a teacher are intended to allow the teacher to contact one or more learners at the same time. The broadcast message cant be responded to. However, you can use the chat functionality to communicate with the teacher.
55. Can I send or receive attachments via chat?
Yes, you can send and receive pictures and videos via chat.
56. I have received a referral request for a teacher from whom I am taking lessons. What should I do?
The referral requests are made by learners who are contemplating booking lessons with a teacher you are already taking lessons from (or have taken lessons from in the past). Chizzle urges you to provide honest feedback to the referral request. The referral request window is normally open for only 48 hours, unless an extension is sought by the requestor.
57. How do I pay for lessons?
You need to pay the teachers directly. Payments processing via the Chizzle platform will be available soon, which will offer you additional benefits and protection.
